A SUSPECTED arson attack destroyed a derelict building in Chesham this morning.

Fire crews battled the blaze on Berkhampstead Road from 2.20am and were still at the scene this afternoon to make sure the fire was completely out.

They said the two storey building was 100 per cent damaged by the fire.

Keith Williams, of Bucks Fire and Rescue, said: “Firefighters worked extremely hard to bring the fire under control within two hours in difficult conditions due to the possible collapse of the building.

“Crews remained on the scene until late in the afternoon to make sure the fire was completely out and that there were no hidden hot spots that could cause reignition.”
