AN MP is to meet with the county's head of transport to discuss the “havoc” created by potholes.

Cheryl Gillan said holes on the roads in her Amersham and Chesham constituency were “very noticeable” and “painful”, adding they presented a “potential danger to all road users”.

She will meet with County Councillor Val Letheren tomorrow to talk about the “dilapidation” of the county's roads.

Buckinghamshire County Council recently invested an extra £2million to help fill in the number of craters which appeared following the freezing winter.

Council leader Cllr David Shakespeare was one of many motorists to have his car damaged after driving over a pothole (see links to previous stories, below).

Mrs Gillan said the council repair teams were doing their best to sort out the problems, but added “there is no denying that the weather has taken its toll and the potholes present potential danger to all road users”.

She said: “It is particularly noticeable that the freezing weather of the past two months has created havoc with our roads.

“When driving through Chesham and Amersham at the weekend the potholes on the road were very noticeable and rather painful, especially on the main route through Chesham and on to Amersham.”
