COMPETITION time. Two weeks ago, I slagged off the pathetic bus lane on High Wycombe’s London Road, and this was followed up by a couple of reader letters backing me.

As you know, I think the lane is dangerous, confusing and serves virtually no purpose.

However, as it’s been going for more than ten years, it must have its virtues. So in the balance of fair and responsible journalism, I invite readers to list those plus points.

The best reason for ‘loving the lane’ will win a top Backchat prize – a limited edition autographed picture of me standing on the A40 at rush hour.

Normal competition rules apply, but this competition is also open to county councillors, particularly Valerie Letheren, the transport supremo for Bucks.

  • Val and other bus lane fans should email me at scohen@london.newsquest.co.uk titling their competition entry ‘I Love the Lane’ and then list in as much detail as possible the advantages of dividing a narrow main road into two confusing sections. Or they can write to me at Midweek, Station Road, High Wycombe, HP10 9TY.
