AFTER reading the proposal to put up a phone aerial opposite the Downley Donkey, I feel it would be a terrible eyesore, a health risk and of no benefit to the community.

We have a phone aerial in Downley already are they taking over the whole country? Why not put back the old village pond which used to occupy this site (until some councillor in his infinite wisdom decided to fill it in some years ago).

A pond with railings around it would be much more in keeping with the village, and it would be a great environmental investment.

I was born in Downley Village 67 years ago and I have lived here all my life.

I have seen many changes and not all for the good I might add!

Our planners at High Wycombe must come from a different planet, who relish in creating traffic jams. Who decides where traffic lights should be placed?

The installation of traffic lights on the London RoadRayners Avenue junction causes nothing but more traffic jams. With its useless design Handy Cross is a driver's worst nightmare, and when most of Wycombe's pedestrian crossings are situated on a mini-roundabout, "crossers" take their lives in their own hands.

Wycombe roads are becoming car parks and it's no wonder nobody wants to shop here!
