Fight: Campaigners against abortion form a human chain PROTESTERS took to the streets to form a human chain in protest against abortion law.

Campaigners from The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children demonstrated at Chesham Road, Amersham, on Saturday against a 32-year-old law that makes abortion legal in Britain.

The protest was part of a nationwide campaign in protest against the legislation.

Amanda Lewin, 27, a mother-of-two of Cresswell Road, Chesham, has protested against the abortion law ever since she saw a video at school showing a termination.

She added: "I do not accept abortion as a choice for women.

"A baby is a baby and abortion is wrong in every circumstance unless the mother's life is in great danger."

Toni Belfield, a director of information at the Family Planning Association, said: "It is not for any one group to say one thing is right or wrong.

"The most important thing is for a couple to be supported in making a decision on whether to keep an unborn baby or not."

She added : "We don't have perfect contraceptives so unintended pregnancies have been around since the beginning of time.

"It's absolutely right and proper that women have a right to choose.

"Abortion is often seen as any easy way out, but this is not the case.

"It is not about pressure to do one thing or another but about support in making a decision."
