RE: The threatened demise of Spring Gardens School

SPRING Gardens School is 90 years old. An interesting Edwardian building with a comprehensive modern extension, it has an honourable history.

Jack Scruton, a founder member of the High Wycombe Society, taught there and in more recent times it has had a history of making a colourful contribution to the artistic life of the town.

In these times when a sense of community in our towns is so hard won, it is vital that provision is made for individual and collective self-expression and learning. Spring Gardens School would provide a focus for the community that will live on the old G Plan site, for other communities round about and for those further afield. It is our Edwardian heritage and it is incumbent upon the council to make every imaginative endeavour to allow the arts and community work to flourish there once again.
