LIFE just seemed a lot simpler for young people in 1956.

These youngsters were snapped enjoying themselves at an indoor games session at the Westbourne Street Church Youth Club, in Westbourne Street, High Wycombe.

As you can see from the photograph, many of the children appear to be dressed in their school uniforms, and although it is February, the young boy on the right of the picture is wearing short trousers. Many of today's youth would not be seen without their designer and brand name clothing let alone wearing their school uniforms outside of the classroom.

The youngsters also appear to be enjoying simple games, which many of today's children would not take a second glance at if they were offered the choice between arcade games and board games.

The draughts board in the photograph seems a little worse for wear and the playing cards bear the brand name of Capstan cigarettes, which in today's politically correct era would not be tolerated within the walls of a youth club. , in February 1956
