Eddie Murphy is the vet who can talk to the animals and hear them talking back. Much humour ensues. HHH

Godzilla (PG)

The big, genetically mutated lizard romps around Manhattan, treading on everything in its wake. Matthew Broderick is the environmentalist out to stop it. One of the few decent blockbusters this summer. HHH

Home Alone 3 (U)

It's difficult to imagine, but this Macaulay Culkin-less sequel is actually worse than its predecessors despite the Hollywood muppet-boy not being involved. HH

The Horse Whisperer (PG)

Robert Redford stars in, directed, produced and probably even made the tea in this story of a rugged cowboy type who calms an injured horse and its feisty owner. It does go on a bit though. HHH

The Jungle Book (PG)

Rudyard Kipling's masterpiece is given the big screen treatment. But it is it the Disney animation or the live-action thriller? Check with the cinema to find out. HHH

The Little Mermaid (U)

Disney's animated classic, based on the Hans Christian Anderson tale, is one for the kids.HHH

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (18)

Vinnie Jones makes his acting debut in this story of a group of East End hards who have to find an enormous amount of money to pay off a gambling debt. When they say The Long Good Friday for the Trainspotting generation, they're right. HHHH

Kundun (12)

Martin Scorsese's study on the 14th century Dalai Lama. Not a gangster, car chase or Wise Guy in sight. Thank goodness for that. HHH

Lost in Space (PG)

Unfortunately, the film of the Robinson's trip into space didn't remain lost. Adaptation of the cult 1960s show. Only Matt Le Blanc escapes with his integrity intact. Also stars Gary Oldman as the obligatory British baddie. H

The Magic Sword (U)

Animated youngsters team up to save the kingdom from an evil worse than they could imagine.HHH

Mousehunt (PG)

Lee Evans and Nathan Lane want to restore a valuable house for sale. The incumbent mouse wants to stop them and chaos ensues. Something for adults and kids in this slapstick movie. HHHH

Saving Private Ryan (15)

Steven Spielberg's tribute to the D-Day forces is possibly even more harrowing than Schindler's List -- particularly the now famous opening 25 minutes. Tom Hanks leads a crack team of soldiers in search of the last surviving Ryan brother. HHHHH

Species II (18)

Nothing could prepare you for the sheer awfulness of this year's worst release as aliens try to take over Earth again.H

Star Kid (PG)

A youngster battles to save the galaxy in this kid's film. HHH

There's Something About Mary (15)

Vicious humour from the creators of Dumb and Dumber featuring lost love and damaged nether regions. Not for the faint-hearted. Review next week.

The X-Files (15)

Mulder and Scully take their alien-bashing conspiracy theories to the big screen in this movie that will appeal to buffs and first-timers alike as a virus threatens human-kind. HHH
