PHOTOGRAPHER Ronald Goodearl took thousands of pictures during his lifetime in High Wycombe and also owned many much older photographs of the town.

The Bucks Free Press inherited his entire collection of pictures, which covers more than a century of events and experiences in South Bucks, after his death last month.

The BFP is hoping to hold an exhibition of Ron's work to share a taste of South Bucks as it used to be and in memory of a lifetime's work.

We will also be re-running The Goodearl Days in the BFP, here on the Memories page, with some of the photographs we have inherited, which may not have been seen for many years.

This picture was among Ron's collection, but there is little information about who is in it and where it was taken.

On the back of the photograph of the people on the rug is the message: "If not on earth, in heaven may we meet again". The date is November 13, 1915, exactly 83 years ago today, and it was probably the last photograph taken before the men went off to fight in the war.

If anyone has any information about this photograph, if they recognise the people in it, or know where it was taken, they should call Samantha Fryer at the Bucks Free Press on (01494) 521212
