I WAS absolutely horrified to read in your paper that a local child who suffers with cerebral palsy was being refused funding for a suit which helps him cope better with everyday life.
I cannot believe that his parents are being forced to spend over £1,000 every ten months or so to provide this for their child when recently you ran an article on your front page (Marlow Free Press, September 25) for a young lady from another country who came to Britain and received free treatment to help her walk.
Whilst I appreciate that she was from a country who could not perform this operation and that she had a friend living here, it does not seem to be fair that a child who has lived in this country for all of his life (and I believe his parents have also) is being refused treatment to help him.
Surely the fact that he has a severe medical condition is enough for him to suffer, let alone the stress that his parents go through every day, so please NHS sort this out.
I would like to send my support to his parents (whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in the past), I too know what it is like to have a child with a disability and believe me life can be extremely difficult.
