JASON Cousins has become the first player to win the Laurent Perrier/Bucks Free Press Player of the Year trophy twice.

Captain Cousins reclaimed the trophy he last won in 1994 after being the clear winner in this year's poll. He won despite missing the last six weeks of the season with a foot injury.

Goalkeeper Martin Taylor was second while scoring machine Sean Devine's eight goals in ten games made him third, even though he only joined the Blues seven weeks ago.

Cousins adds the tropy and the huge magnum of champagne he won to the award he received from the club's official supporters club last week.

He said: "It's given me a big boost. It means a lot to me to win an award like this and it makes up a little bit for the frustration of missing out on the end of the season. But I think I'll save champagne until Saturday night when we've really got something to celebrate

Boss Sanchez said: "Jason was the first player I signed. He epitomises the club and it will be great to have him back next year. Unfortunately he has not been part of our renaissance but it was his goal at Bristol Rovers that set us off."

Meanwhile Devine's goal glut made him the overwhelming winner in the club's player of the month poll for April.

He took 73 per cent of the vote with Martin Taylor again having to make do with second. But the goalkeeper's union did have a winner with up-and-coming Mark Osborn winning youth team player of the year.
