Dream dinner date

TV personality Michael Parkinson, who lives in Bray with his wife Mary, tells us of his love of fish and chips. His new talk show starts in January when he will be interviewing Gerri Halliwell, Michael Caine and Dawn French.

Favourite restaurant

I love eating at the Waterside Inn in Bray. I also go to Bobby King's place called the Cottage Inn in Winkfield. They are both very good restaurants. The Waterside Inn is one of the greatest restaurants in England and Bobby King is an old friend of mine.

Favourite food

Whenever I go out I always have fish and chips.

Favourite meal

I am a terrible cook, Mary is a great cook she does all the cooking at home. My favourite meal is fish and chips, I eat nothing but fish and chips. The fish can be cod or haddock, but it has to be deep fried; it comes from my Yorkshire upbringing. And if I don't get fish and chips I get very cross. And I am not stringing a line.

Ideal dining partner

It'll have to be Dale Winton. When I went out for dinner with George Michael at the Ivy restaurant in London, before my interview with him, the media said that Dale Winton was eating with us and he wasn't. He was there in spirit.
