I WISH to bring to the public's notice the plight of the elderly people in the High Wycombe area with the introduction by the Government via the local council of the new computerised heating system.

The system has been installed, so we are told, to save money and avoid hyperthermia in the elderly.

In fact it is going to cause the exact opposite as it is a useless installation. As in my case, it has been installed right next to the hot water boiler so, after a short time, it goes off.

It is also affected by sunlight, cooking heat and electric fire and goes off and does not come back on. One is sitting in supposed warmth, and the next minute it is cold.

When asking if something can be done, one is told, as with my new installation, there are teething troubles; but this is playing dice with our lives.

I would like for preference to go back to the previous heating system (as we all would) with which there was nothing wrong and one could leave it on low if going out shopping, for the day or for a few days. But with this new system, you are lucky if it lasts an hour, let alone a day.
