KEVIN Maizey writing in last week's letters, quite rightly points to the sheer lunacy of Wycombe District Council's idea of having a business park at the AXA Equity & Law offices.

Elsewhere in your paper, a report by a local chartered surveyor concludes the AXA Equity & Law site is the wrong location for modern business needs. He says that planning permission has been granted for business parks in Princes Risborough and Stokenchurch and yet they have not been taken up.

The council seems to think that there needs to be more employment in the northern side of town. No doubt they felt the same about Princes Risborough and Stokenchurch.

Like a lot of things, ideas appear to be good in theory but not in practice. Local residents, especially young mums, are really worried though that the council will press on with this loony idea.

Traffic calming with bollards and speed signs on the road have tried to deter lorries using Totteridge Lane and Hatters Lane and cars still travel at fast speeds.

The amount of lorries using these roads is far too great, particularly in the southerly direction, as they go to use the Loudwater M40 junction to go to London to avoid the notorious Handy Cross.

Living here we know that there are serious accidents waiting to happen.

It is totally irresponsible of the council to want to proceed with the idea of a business park in a residential area.

How short councillors memories are. I remember the two people being killed here because they happened near my home a few years ago.

Doesn't this count for something or have more people got to be killed on these roads?

Isn't it a pity there isn't an election campaign going on. This seems to concentrate the minds and brings lapses of memory back.
