MORE than 400 mourners, some from as far away as Ghana, attended a service of thanksgiving for minister's wife Margaret Brazier who died in a road smash.

Mrs Brazier, 55, of Rutland Avenue, High Wycombe, died on January 17 after her car was in a head-on collision with another vehicle as she was travelling to pick up a friend in Marlow Bottom.

The service took place at All Saints' Parish Church, High Wycombe, on Monday, after a cremation at The Chilterns Crematorium, Amersham.

Mrs Brazier's husband, Methodist minister Tony Brazier, 57, said Margaret was his whole life.

Mr Brazier did not speak at the thanksgiving service, but told the Bucks Free Press: "Margaret was fun-loving and always smiling, yet a quiet lady who cared for people.

"Always with time to listen, a memory that could recall past conversations and never a bad word for even the most testing of people."

During the service, a gospel singer sang: "There is one more angel in heaven, one more star in the sky. Margaret we will never forget you, it's tough but we will get by."

The service was conducted by one of Margaret and Tony's friends from London, the Rev Martin Caldwell. He said: "Margaret was a lovely lady and a woman of integrity. Everyone was always welcome in her home and went away with real happiness."

The Rev Paul Cieka said in remembrance of Margaret: "I don't know how many tears have been shed for the dear and lovely Margaret since that fateful morning, but they have been shed for a very, very special person.

"I shall treasure the memories I have of Margaret for the rest of my life."

A special service was held in Ghana and a recording of the thanksgiving service in High Wycombe was sent to Ghana where she had visited many times.

Chairman of Wycombe District Council, Ted Collins, said: "Margaret did wonderful things for the community, especially for the people of Castlefield. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her."

Margaret leaves three sons, David, Mark and Gareth.
