TRAINSPOTTING star Ewan McGregor had to call out a doctor on an emergency to his wife Eve when the couple stayed in Marlow at the weekend.

The 27-year-old Scottish actor was staying at the Compleat Angler with his wife and their daughter Clara when the incident happened.

Ewan played Renton in Trainspotting, the award-winning Channel 4 film, as well as lead parts in Shallow Grave and Brassed Off.

A hotel spokesman said the actor stayed at the Marlow hotel on Friday and Saturday. The spokesman said: "We had to call an emergency doctor. We understand Ewan's wife has allergies.

"We sent out for the medication which was taken her room. She needed a dose of anti-histamine.

"She was OK after that and praised the hotel for being so helpful."

Despite the trauma, the hotel spokesman said the couple left saying they had enjoyed themselves and had a great visit.

She said: "They said their stay in Marlow was really marvellous.

"From what his wife said they were very happy and had a really restful stay.

"He wowed the hotel because he was so pleasant. He was really nice and all the staff said they were very friendly."

Ewan's manager is his mother Carol.

She told the Marlow Free Press: "All I can say is he spent a weekend in the country.

"I thought he was staying with friends but I am not sure.

"He was certainly somewhere in the country over the weekend."

Carol said that Ewan has a long list of films due out.

The next to be released is Velvet Goldmine about the 1970s glamrock era. Following that he will play a part in the new Star Wars and next year he will play the lead part in Rogue Trader, a story about life of rogue banker Nick Leeson.

He is also working on a film about the original Hellfire Club which used to meet at West Wycombe Caves. Filming is due to start next year. TRAINSPOTTING star Ewan McGregor had to call out a doctor on an emergency to his wife Eve when the couple stayed in Marlow at the weekend.
