FORMER Blues stalwart Terry Evans is back at the club as the youth team physio.

Evans, who was released by former boss John Gregory 18 months ago, has been working hard since then, taking physio and fitness exams, while also turning out for Ryman Premier Division champions Kingstonian.

He could have stayed on at Kingsmeadow and been part of their first season in the Vauxhall Conference but he opted for a career move back to Adams Park instead where he will work closely with new youth team boss Gary Goodchild.

Club manager Neil Smillie said: "Terry has always been interested in the physio side of the game probably because of all the time he has spent on the treatment table himself."

Smillie joked that the appointment of the 6ft 5in giant should ensure that the club's young players do not spend too much time in the treatment room.

He said: "I don't think too many of the young boys will want to stay out inured for too long with big Terry around."

Blues have taken on eight boys under the PFA's new three-year scholarship scheme and those boys will come under the charge of Goodchild - Smillie's former playing colleague who learned the management side of things from ten years in Norway.

Smillie said: "He's learned a lot from his time in Norway and hopefully we may get something from his contacts there."
