ANGRY mother Pam Acheampong has criticised Buckinghamshire County Council over new parking restrictions which she says will cause chaos.

Mother-of-three Mrs Acheampong, of Spearing Road, Castlefield, returned home on Thursday afternoon to find a single yellow line had been painted along one side of the street.

She claims that the new restrictions, which outlaw parking between 8am and 6pm on weekdays, mean that there will not be enough room for residents to park their cars.

Mrs Acheampong told the Bucks Free Press Midweek: "There's no bus route along here and there's no through traffic.

"All that is going to happen is that there will not be enough room for everyone to park, it's just going to cause chaos.

"Some people have disabled visitors and it will be very difficult for them if they can't park outside their own houses.

"The council people should bring their cars up here and see if they can find somewhere to park. There will be real trouble over this."

Neighbour Angela McGrath-Simpson, also of Spearing Road, said that there was plenty of space to park in a nearby service road but claimed nobody would park their cars there for fear of vandalism.

"It's ridiculous that we should have to put up with this. What are we supposed to do if there's nowhere to park in the whole street? And what if we have visitors, where are they supposed to park?"

The residents have collected 175 signatures on a petition against the restrictions and plan to hold a public meeting.

A county council spokesman said the yellow lines are to replace an existing restriction banning cars from parking with one wheel on the pavement and added the restriction is intended to make sure there is adequate room for emergency vehicles to get through.
