TEENAGERS and young adults with disabilities have received a boost following the opening of a new charity.
The Mike Jackson Trust aims to give people aged 16 to 25 the chance to get together and enjoy a range of social activities.
The group meets each Wednesday at Occasio House, Playhouse Square, from 7pm until 9pm for music, snacks, and a host of other interests. Co-ordinator Neil Crouch said: "Mike's Den is somewhere for young people with all kinds of disabilities to enjoy themselves and get out into the community. There aren't many facilities for that particular age group."
The charity is named after teacher and disability campaigner Mike Jackson who died two years ago. Mr Crouch said it was his wish for the centre to open and they have dedicated the project to his memory.
A recent quiz night at the Garden Tiger Pub raised £172 for the centre.
The charity is urging people to become volunteers. Training will be provided.
