BUCKS OPEN STUDIOS enters its 20th anniversary year tomorrow when the doors will open on two weeks of artistic delights. Run by the Visual Images group it is an alliance of over 400 artists and craftspeople. The open studios cover a wide range of crafts including original furniture such as that produced by Darren Tyson. There's also glass and ceramics along with watercolours by Hazel Henry. Categories also include photography and sculpture. Many of these studios are close by although this is a countywide event. GARDENING ASSOCIATION'S 2005 Hussey memorial lecture takes place on Thursday at 8pm in the Drake Hall at the Community Centre. Mike Watts will be giving a talk entitled "National Trust - rooted in history and growing forever". With the National Trust known for some of the most beautiful gardens in the country this should be an enlightening talk for all those with an interest in gardening.

Mike lectures on behalf of the National Trust and other organisations including the Chelsea Physic Garden where he also acts as a guide. His other connections include Plantlife that has links with the RSPB. Admission is £2 for guests and National Trust members would be especially welcome.

ANNUAL CIVIC SERVICE is due to be held on Sunday in Kings Church, Chapel Yard off the High Street in the old town at 10.30am. The preacher will be the Rev Stuart Reid who has lived locally for many years and is a past minister at the church. The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Jennifer Hopkirk and also members of the county, district and town councils, will attend the service. The town mayor is also expected to be in attendance.

The service is open to all and you would be very welcome to attend.

PEOPLES VOICES is an advocacy service that aims to empower people to ensure their voices are heard, interests defended and their rights supported. Advocates encourage people to speak for themselves and can assist with specific issues or situations and lend support in crisis. Some people will be self-referred to the service while others will come to the service via a social worker or family member.
