FINGERS CROSSED AGAIN, please, for fine weather tomorrow as Downley Day takes place on the common from 2pm. I look forward to meeting lots of you on my Bucks Free Press table, do come along and introduce yourself.

DISCO this evening is from 7pm to 9pm. Pay £2 per child on the door (adults free) to include a drink and packet of crisps. Great music is in store with lots of fun and games.

DRUGS AWARENESS EVENING is designed for everyone over the age of 11 years. It's on Tuesday at the Disraeli School in The Pastures, at 7.30pm.

COMMUNITY LIBRARY is now open for business, much earlier than planned because of the group's impatience to get going. There are currently about 1,000 books to choose from plus a selection of jig-saw puzzles.

The library is being run by a group of volunteers with the intention of following the example of a public library as closely as possible. Up to five books can be borrowed at a cost of 20p each, a 10p per week fine is levied for overdue books. Donations of books are greatly appreciated please call me with any offers.

Opening hours are Mondays from 10am to midday but they hope to extend these once support increases for the scheme.
