NEW BOOKLETS are available now in the council offices detailing where to stay and eat locally. There is also a newly updated visitor guide and guides to Old Amersham and other towns across the district. While these are very much aimed at the visitor they also provide some very useful information and reminders of what there is to do in the area. These guides can be helpful through the long summer holidays when visitors come to stay. Pick up a copy from the council offices which are open Monday to Thursday between 8.30am and 5.30pm then until 5pm on Friday.

WITH A FEW DRY DAYS and plenty of sunshine with us over the next few weeks why not try a walk and enjoy the countryside. As well as the led walks run by the museum on Sunday afternoons at 2.30pm there is also plenty of scope to go out on your own. Old Amersham provides a good starting point for a walk up on the surrounding hills with great views. You can plan your own walk from a map or pick up a leaflet from various locations around the town with routes outlined. Two such examples are a two-mile and a five-mile walk from Old Amersham. The two-mile walk is great for beginners and includes the woods and hills behind. The five-mile walk is suitable for the more energetic walker.
