WE HAVE a new caf in the village as Blueprint Cuisine has opened up at 3 Fairview School Road, next to the Off Licence. The cafe is offering a wide range of drinks both hot and cold and a good variety of sandwiches and salads. It will be an ideal stopping point for those visiting the pond or having had a good walk across our very pleasant countryside.

They will also cater for your business lunches and deliver, so contact them on 01494 819933.

I WAS ACCOSTED by an attractive young lady on Monday who complained about too much cricket in this column. I did explain that it is a quiet time in the village at the moment and it isn't at all easy to get local organisations or schools to forward their activities to me. I never receive any information from a majority of the village, so if you want to see less cricket, send me your events and news. Mind, who am I to be upset at being accosted by a young lady?

VILLAGE CHURCHES of St Margaret's and Holy Trinity are combining to offer another Alpha Course when you can "Explore the Meaning of Life".

The course will run over 12 Mondays commencing with a talk entitled "Christianity: Boring, Irrelevant and Untrue?" which will be given by Rev Mike Bisset on Monday, September 12 at the introductory supper. The supper commences at 7pm and you should contact Anthea Carter on 01494 813015 or Jenny Earnshaw on 01494 813254 for more details.

SATURDAY CHILTERNS Cricket League programme was decimated by heavy rain and very few matches were completed. I have not received any details of the 1st XI fixture away at Binfield, but assume the match was not completed. The 2nd XI fixture with local rivals Winchmore Hill was abandoned with Winchmore Hill 114-2.

The first team stay in second place in the league but any chance of catching leaders Englefield probably disappeared as they were able to complete their fixture with a win on Saturday.
