IT IS UNUSUAL for the Cookhams to have distraction burglaries. However during the weekend there was a distraction burglary at Butts Cottages in Sutton Road when an elderly householder opened his front door to two men. One said they had lost something in the back garden and a search in the garden revealed nothing, however while this was going on another man had searched the cottage and cash and documents were stolen. "This type of burglary is very mean and old people living alone should be very careful never to open the front door to anyone they do not know" PC Walter de Haan told the MFP.

TRINITY FESTIVAL proved very successful and the finances show a small surplus to support the investment in another festival. The next festival will be in 2007 and it is important to note that this is a festival for all the Cookhams. In 2007 it will just be called the Cookham Festival. Michael Johnson has agreed to carry on as chairman and Mike Copland is to stand as a trustee. There are plans for some entertainment in 2006.

COOKHAM ARTS CLUB will hold its 64th annual art exhibition in the Pinder Hall from Saturday, August 20-29. There will be paintings, sculpture and drawings from local artists. They will be on sale for visitors to buy.
