FRIENDS have said a fond farewell to Mary Mason, daughter Lynne and son Ian, as they left the village to return to Mary's home town of Melton Mowbray. At a service in the Methodist Church two members, Muriel Hutchinson and Heather Woods, paid tribute to Mary's work in the church and also on the Christian Aid committee and Churches Together in Haddenham. They gave Mary flowers and a garden token. At the Red Cross Day Centre where Lynne has worked, Linda Bamford presented her with money to spend on furnishing her new bedroom. Lynne has been a popular volunteer worker at the centre and Linda says she will be greatly missed.

GILL CLIPSHAM, children's co-ordinator, has judged the library Reading Voyage colouring competition so please go along to pick up your prize. Winners are Harry Whelan with runners up-Richard Crosland, Louis Ellis, Tess Hovil, Jessica Fleming, Gabriel Bailey every other entrant will be given a consolation prize. Vicky Parkinson won the Treasure Hunt .

A WILLOW TREE has been cut down at Banks Park but Jim Ayers has been busy turning it into a seat which has been placed near the pond at Snakemoor. Chris Hawkins of the garden centre helped move the seat into position with his machinery.

COVER GIRLS four Haddenham ladies, Pam Barratt, Helen Murphy, Jean Overton and Joan Pratt appear on the 90th anniversary issue of the WI's national magazine, Home and Country. They were photographed at the WI's Denman College where they were joining in the anniversary celebrations.

JACQU'IN THE BOX is a fun music group for babies and toddlers which meets every Thursday in the village hall at 10.10am. Ring Jacqui on 01296 422660 for details.

SUNDAY at 10.15am in the Methodist Church members will be joined by the Baptist Church for a Harvest Festival service. All are welcome. The service will be conducted by the new minister, the Rev Derick Chambers.

At 2.30pm meet at the library in Banks Road for a four mile Heart and Sole country walk. Strong footwear and waterproofs are advised.

At 7.45pm at Church End Green the Haddenham Feast service will be held, led by the Baptist Church. As the fair will be set up on the green there may be problems with traffic flow so please arrive on foot. Also a torch is useful for following the hymn sheet. Bus passengers should also note that the 280 bus may be turning at the junction of Willis Road and Churchway while the fair is here.

PLANNING APPLICATIONS and McAlpines have submitted an application to put a telecommunications mast at the junction of Banks Road and Stokes Croft. If you are unhappy about this, Blooming Fruity have a petition against it. There is also an application for 47 houses on the Spicer Hallfield site in Banks Road.
