RETAILERS need to do their research and “provide a service which other people want” to fill empty shops in Princes Risborough, a councillor said.
Princes Risborough Town Council agreed not to try and fill empty shops by changing the use from retail to office use.
Reg Orsler said: “Maintaining a vibrant High Street requires retail outlets. We need proper retailers. They seem to come into our High Street opening some esoteric shop who gets one person come into it in a 1000.
“Research and open a shop with a service which other people want.”
Chairman and mayor Alan Turner said offices are not going to do anything for the High Street and said the Action for Market Towns proposals will help rejuvenate the town.
AMT will be on hand to help the town's groups work together, provide help and advice while providing national representation and look at projects to boost the town.
