A NEW £170,000 supercar described by Jeremy Clarkson as “one of the all time greats” was wrecked after a crash in Marlow.

The black Ferrari 458 Italia hit the barrier at the Marlow A404 bypass, smashing the front and leaving it crumpled.

Thames Valley Police were called out to the accident at 4.52pm on Thursday.

It said nobody was injured and it was not investigating.

Heavy rain during the day had left the road wet.

The Highways Agency were called at 5.55pm because about 5m of the barrier was damaged.

Agency spokesman James Wright said the barrier is “stable” but it will be about six weeks before the repairs can be made because parts have to be manufactured.

He added it was “minor” damage, but “messy”.

BBC 2 show Top Gear recently reviewed the new vehicle, with presenter Clarkson waxing lyrical about it.

He said on the programme, while testing the car: “I know this is £170,000 and that's a lot even by Ferrari standards but I don't care.

"I don't care about the bumpers, the dash, I wouldn't even care if it ate one of my legs. The 458 is one of the all time greats.

“It really is absolutely, unbelievably, mesmerisingly brilliant.”

The car can travel up 202mph and go from 0 to 62mph in ‘less than 3.4 seconds’ according to the Top Gear website.

The popular motoring website also reports six crashes involving the 458 since its launch.
