FOLLOWING last year's success, the Times Series is once again offering charities and organisations the chance to win a team of willing volunteers for Mitzvah Day, on Sunday, November 21.

Mitzvah Day UK, now in its fifth year, is a Jewish-led initiative that encourages people to volunteer their time, rather than their money, to good causes in the community.

Last year, a team of willing volunteers from the Times Series newsroom rejuvenated the run-down garden of Oak Lodge School, in East Finchley, which caters for youngsters with special needs. Gardening equipment and plants worth hundreds of pounds were generously donated by Mill Hill Garden Centre, in Daws Lane, for the project.

Now the team are readying themselves once more to lend a helping hand to a worthy cause in the community.

Any group, charity or organisation is eligible to enter and any task will be considered for Mitzvah Day.

Perhaps you know of a community centre that needs redecorating or allotments and green spaces that need clearing? Or maybe you would like the volunteers to visit special needs children or entertain elderly residents in a care home?

Simply submit your idea by emailing assistant editor Francine Wolfisz at fwolfisz@london.newsquest.co.uk or calling 0208 359 5921.

The closing date for entries is Friday, November 5.
