As Buckinghamshire County Council looks to save about £94m, day centres and libraries are just two of its functions braced to be hit.

A public consultation, still ongoing is asking residents their views on making 11 libraries purely run by volunteers, meaning job losses for current staff.

The plans could save about £700,000. Only two or three of 22 day centres for pensioners and people with learning disabilities will escape closure – though some could be community run.

A decision is expected in January on the Wycombe Wanderers and Wasps 'community' stadium.

Wycombe District Council's public consultation results will be released and councillors will later vote on the way forward.

On January 12, the Improvement and Review Commission will debate whether to cease spending cash on the project.

About a third of the £750,000 pledged to investigate its feasibility has already been spent.

Two referendums are likely to be called on the ground move plans by residents at Lane End and Great Marlow parish councils.

High Speed 2 is set to dominate the headlines once more.

A consultation, labelled as the widest-ranging ever set out by Parliament is set to begin.

The campaign to stop the £33bn railway, which will run directly through protected countryside, will include road shows shadowing the Government's consultation to set out the case against.

Despite spending cuts, council bosses have pledged public money to help fight the project.

The future of Holywell Mead outdoor pool, looks set to become clearer early in the New Year.

A contract for the disused swimming facility is set to be awarded 'early in 2011' with the un-specified leisure service opening “soon after”.

The council put the derelict open air pool on The Rye out to tender in August.
