WYCOMBE Wanderers Trust has released a statement in response to comments made by Wycombe District Council Leader Lesley Clarke earlier this week (see link below for original story).

Wycombe Wanderers Trust has noted the comments made by WDC Leader Lesley Clarke on 19th April under the heading "Stadium Campaigners 'bending truth' says Council Leader".

Of particular interest to the Trust Board was the statement that "It's not the District Council that are doing the planning application, it's the clubs". That is not the case and Lesley Clarke should be well aware of the fact that it is Wycombe Sports Development Limited (WSDL) that is the driving force behind the project.

Whilst the fact that Wycombe Wanderers, Wasps and WSDL are under common ownership which might therefore accidentally result in confusing statements being made, it is felt to be important that propagating the myth that the Stadium Project is being driven by the clubs be dispelled.

The Trust's position in respect of the project and its prime objective remain unchanged. Until detailed, verifiable figures are available which demonstrate long term benefits to WWFC, we cannot support the initiative.

Whilst recognising the various protest groups' concerns, the Trust's main objective is to protect the long term future of Wycombe Wanderers, nothing more, nothing less.
