POLICE have arrested nine people and charged three after a series of burglaries in Prestwood.

Since the beginning of the year there have been nearly 30 burglaries in the area, with properties in Fair Acres, Nairdwood Lane, Wycombe Road, Honor Road, Lodge Lane and Sixty Acres Road among those targeted.

The items stolen were mainly electrical items and jewellery.

Ch Insp Ian Hunter said: “We have made a number of arrests in relation to these burglaries but these incidents cannot continue.

“The neighbourhood team and additional officers have been patrolling the area and we will continue to carry out frequent patrols in the area until these burglaries stop.

“I have a dedicated team of detectives thoroughly investigating every burglary we have reported to us to ensure that we catch those responsible and that they are brought to justice but we need you to help us to stop any more from happening.”

A 25-year-old man from Aylesbury has been charged with burglary from a property in Nairdwood Close and remanded in custody.

A 48-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, both from Prestwood, have been charged with handling stolen goods. They are due before Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court on May 19.

Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with a burglary in Sixty Acres Road, while four other teenage boys have been arrested and bailed in connection with burglaries in the area.

Thames Valley Police will be working with Chiltern District Council to hold a 'burglary day of action' on Thursday, May 12 at Prestwood Village Hall between 1 - 2pm and 5 - 7pm.

Residents are urged to go along and collect free property marking pens, stickers, and literature and advice on how to prevent being a burglary victim.
