A RADIO 1 DJ dropped into the grounds of a school in Penn when the hot air balloon he was flying in landed unexpectedly.
Reggie Yates, who presents the Radio 1 request show on a Saturday afternoon, had his photo taken with the headteacher, Mary-Nest Richardson before setting off again.
The balloon landed in Penn School in Church Road, Penn at about 9pm on Friday night.
Mrs Richardson said: “They hadn't intended to land but it was just delightful to meet him.
“I said he was welcome to drop in at the school at any time.”
Yates was sampling one of three prizes which are being offered in a competition run by Mazda called “Express their Spirit.”
Penn School is a non-maintained special school for pupils with communication difficulties situated in the village of Penn. The school survived the threat of closure in 1999 and became non-maintained in 2001 when a charitable Trust took ownership.
