AROUND 6000 people are expected to spend their Bank Holiday Monday at the Beaconsfield Country Fayre next week.

Organised by the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, it is the Fayre's fifth year since its return after a decade absence. The event has raised £50,000 for charity in the last four years.

The Fayre's main event, the stretcher race, is back with the main race to begin at 2pm.

This year organisers have included a children's race, in which teams of four carry a teddy bear on a stretcher and a new Cup for the junior champion.

Along with the children's race there are fair rides and amusements, a petting zoo, the climbing wall and a giant inflatable slide, for the youngsters.

Other new additions to the Fayre include a classic car show, and many of the old attractions remain such as trips up the church tower, the great balloon race, the horticultural show.
