TWO South Bucks animal welfare workers showed a group of youngsters what hard work is all about in a BBC television programme which airs tonight.
Jess Hollis, of Stokenchurch, who has worked at The Blue Cross for 18 months after finishing a degree in animal welfare, and her co-worker Emily Paget of High Wycombe feature in BBC 3’s show Young, Dumb and Living off Mum.
The pair care for hundreds of homeless dogs at the charity’s animal adoption centre in Lewknor, Oxfordshire. The 21 year olds watched over the group work shy young adults as they clean out kennels and walk, train and bath the dog they were assigned to care for during the day.
Jess said: “It was a real eye opener to work with people with such a different attitude to work, I was quite shocked at how immature they were. But it was lovely to see how inspired they became by working with the animals.”
At the end of a long day, the contestants were set the ultimate challenge of presenting the training skills they had learned with their canine charges in their bid to secure a round the world trip.
Yopung, Dumb and Living off Mum airs tonight on BBC 3 a 9pm.
