A YOUTH club in Loudwater is being “devastated” by repeated break-ins, which have caused more than £1,000 worth of damage.

The latest incident at Loudwater Boys Club happened last week, when offenders smashed through a double glazed window and stole some sweets, computer games and cash.

Roy Novell, who helps run the club on Birfield Road, said: “There's nothing in here of any value, we just get absolutely devastated by the damage they cause.

“Last time we tried to claim on the insurance but our premium would have gone up by three times.

We are a registered charity and everyone works here for the love of the club.”

The previous incident happened about 18 months ago, when burglars stole a safe from the club.

Youth leader Alan James said: “It's getting beyond a joke now, about £1,000 of damage has been caused. There's nothing in here of any value. If they want sweets we can leave them outside the club door for them.”

The latest burglary happened between between 8pm on September 20 and 8am the following morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. If you can help, call the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
