THE unsolved case of a Wycombe schoolboy being shot in both kneecaps is set to be featured on TV show Crimewatch tonight – while his family urged people to help police find the gunman.

Khalil Hogan, who is now 15, was blasted with a shotgun on his doorstep in Challener Road in March, leaving 100 pellet fragments lodged in his legs.

A motive for the attack has not been established, and detectives say they have found no reason for anyone to target Khalil, or anyone living at the house. They think it could be a case of mistaken identity.

Though Khalil's injuries were horrific and some pellet fragments remain in his legs, the promising footballer has recovered well and is back playing sport again.

He lives with his grandmother, Bridget Hogan, who told the Bucks Free Press: “Khalil is physically OK, but mentally this still affects him, it affects everyone.

“It shouldn’t have happened, not to Khalil. He has never done anything bad to anyone. We have found it really hard, but with the help of family and friends have managed to cope and are moving on.

“I urge whoever is responsible to give themselves up. This has been going on for some time now and these people should be caught and prosecuted, we need justice, for Khalil and the family.

Khalil has told Crimewatch: “When I kept going back over it in my head I didn't really know why someone would do something like this to me. Because I've always been a quiet person, never got in to much trouble, so I don't really understand why trouble has come to me.”

One in five cases featured on the show leads to a conviction.

Earlier this year a man and woman were arrested in connection with the attack, but both were subsequently released without charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Joe Kidman, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are hoping that by broadcasting a reconstruction of this serious crime, we will be able to gather vital evidence to solve this case.

“I hope that tonight’s programme will bring the details of this incident back into the public’s eye and encourage anyone who might have some information to help with our investigation to contact us.

“We will also be releasing information throughout the programme on Twitter.

“I am sure that someone out there has the vital information that we need to bring those responsible to justice.”
