BEACONSFIELD RFC head coach Allan Greene has warned his players to up their commitment or risk letting their good work in the first part of the season His team were hammered 38-7 at Milton Keynes on Saturday and Greene admits it was a defeat that’s been coming.

He said: “I didn’t think it would be that emphatic. I didn’t think it would be a drubbing, but we’ve been on the wane recently and I saw it coming.

“Players haven’t been coming down to training and if you don’t train together you won’t win together.

“I’ve been happy to be there Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday but I haven’t had a full team to work with.”

Matt Morgan’s try was the only bright spot against a side Beaconsfield had beaten twice already this season, but Greene says their hosts were good value.

Greene said: “We were beaten fair and square. Our forwards were taught a lesson. We lost the line outs, we lost the scrums and lost the contact area.”

The defeat has seen Beaconsfield’s lead sliced to three points and they still have to go to Windsor, the team closing the gap behind them.

Greene said: “We’ve got to go unbeaten now until the end of the season to get anything out of this league.

“We’ve still got time to recover, but we’ve also got time to go the other way and we could lose two or three more and end up middle to diddle.

“But hopefully we’ll get the right reaction and and I expect fire and brimstone against Tadley [tomorrow].”
