POLICE said a cigarette could have sparked a fire at a Totteridge flat last night.
Four fire crews were called to the property on Totteridge Road, near the junction with Bowerdean Road, at 8.55pm.
They said the building and roof suffered some fire and smoke damage, but firefighters had put out the flames by 10pm.
Thames Valley Police spokesman, Rebecca Webber, said: “The fire service ruled the matter was accidental and possibly caused by someone smoking near some foliage....No one was injured. There is no further police involvement.”
