AFTER 60 years of service to Marlow Regatta, its most recent president has announced his retirement from the role.
Bill Findlay has held a variety of positions within the Regatta over the years. During his tenure on the committee, Marlow Regatta has undergone extensive changes, most notably its change in venue to Dorney Lake- something in which he played a central role.
Lunch on April 1, at Leander Rowing Club, was attended by approximately 70 of Mr Findlay’s rowing and regatta friends, celebrating his contribution to the sport- a portrait of Bill was also painted by fellow regatta committee member Hugh Evans and was presented to him in recognition of his service.
The Presidency of the Regatta Committee has now passed to John Chapman.
Commenting on Mr Findlay’s tenure, Mr Chapman said: "My family and I are delighted by the honour that the committee has bestowed upon me with the Presidency.
"I have very large shoes to fill following Bill- I would like to thank him for his years of commitment to the Marlow Regatta."
