PRIME Minister David Cameron and wife Samantha left their eight-year-old daughter in a Cadsden pub, Downing Street has confirmed.

The Camerons had been enjoying a meal with friends and family at The Plough before they left to return to their Chequers retreat.

It was only when the horrified Camerons arrived back at their country home that they realised daughter Nancy was not in either of their two cars.

The Prime Minister frantically phoned the pub to check she was safe and then rushed back to pick her up.

A Downing Street spokesman said: “The Prime Minister and Samantha were distraught when they realised Nancy wasn't with them.

“Thankfully when they phoned the pub - she was there safe and well. The Prime Minister went down straight away to get her.”

The nationals have reported the mix-up was sparked when Nancy visited the toilet without notifying her parents.

She is understood to have spent about 15 mins alone at the pub.

Landlord Steve Hollings said: "It is a very unfortunate incident.

"I think he is a lovely man, a good father, a good husband, a good family man.

"I think he should be admired that such a busy man puts aside quality time just to spend with his family.

"I think that private, quality time should be respected."

He said Mr Cameron quite often visits the pub and said the incident was 'just one of those things'.

He added: "He is an excellent father- just a real good honest chap."
