THE organiser of Princes Risborough festival said residents' spirits were not dampened on Saturday as the colourful annual parade went ahead.
At 2pm the fancy dress and festival parade set out through the town to the King George V Recreation Ground, led by the British Airways Pipe Band.
Organiser Richard Stevenson said: "Considering the weather it was amazing. It started off in the dry for the start of the parade as normal.
"There was a fantastic turn-out."
But he said as soon as the parade got into the King George V park for the final stages of the judging of the fancy dress competition the heavens opened.
Mr Stevenson said this did not put people off though and everyone stayed.
He said: "The spirit of Risborough shone through and everyone stayed on.
"Shortly afterwards it cleared up and the rest of the afternoon went well."
Unfortunately the evening entertainment of a Brazilian evening had to be cancelled as it was too muddy to get the stage into the park.
He added: "The afternoon finished with the best tug of war competition we had.
"It was won by the Red Lion at Whiteleaf for the second year running.
"It was down to technique, more than muscle this year."
The 10k run went ahead as planned on the Sunday.

If everyone turns up there will be a record number of stalls and there will be live music from 1.30-5pm.
On Sunday there is the Children's Chocolate Hunt at Whiteleaf Cross. Meet in the car park and registration is at 1.30pm.
