MOTORISTS using the interchange at High Wycombe railway station will be able to drive straight over to Castle Street from tomorrow.

In the current road network, only taxies and buses are allowed to head into Castle Street but all vehicles will be allowed to do this from Tuesday.

The ‘no right turn’ for southbound vehicles into Castle Street and ‘no entry’ from Amersham Hill into the new station interchange exit road will also be made permanent.

These measures were put in place by Transport for Buckinghamshire when the railway station was remodelled and redeveloped in 2010.

Buckinghamshire County Council Cabinet Member for Transportation, Peter Hardy said: "The trial changes have worked well.

“But we have listened to comments from a number of people, including residents and Bucks Fire and Rescue, and have decided to allow all vehicles to access Castle Street from the station interchange exit."
