A HOUSE in Castlefield was torched in a suspected arson attack last night, police said.

Ch Insp Colin Seaton has however moved to reassure residents that the blaze in Rutland Avenue at about 9.20pm is not connected to previous arson attacks in the Castlefield area.

He said: "This latest fire in Rutland Avenue isn’t connected to the previous series of arsons that blighted the estate.

"I hope that the community can feel reassured that we believe this to be a one-off, isolated incident."
