A SCHOOL in Tylers Green is the first to host a unique training programme which will help children enjoy books and make reading enjoyable.

The ABC Read will train parent volunteers to help raise children's self esteem when reading to ensure they learn to love books.

The charity was introduced in primary schools across Berkshire and have now decided to move beyond its borders.

The course hopes to teach parents how to help children who are struggling with reading.

Headteacher Janis Dieppe said: "We feel very fortunate to have so many parents who support our school throughout the working day and are very excited about entering into this new project with our committed volunteers."

The volunteers will be able to work as groups, pairs or as individual helpers.

The new team will be supporting between 20 and 30 pupils during the year. For more details go to www.abctoread.org.uk.
