Thames Valley Police will hold a Tweetathon to give an insight in to a typical evening in the force.

On Tuesday, March 22, the @ThamesVP Twitter account will tweet details of 999 and 101 calls for six hours straight from 5pm.

The aim of the live stream is to give the public an insight in to the different types and of incidents and the volume at which they come in.

TVP also hopes it will drive forward its recruitment campaign for the enquiry centre and will release information on the role of a call handler as well as application advice.

The Tweets will give basic details of enquiries received, how they came in to the centre and how the police are responding to them.

Head of TVP’s Control Room and Enquiries department, Superintendent Gill Wootton said: “This Tweetathon will be a fantastic opportunity for Thames Valley Police to demonstrate the demand and variety of work that is received into our Enquiry Centre.

“I hope it will allow the public to learn more about the work of our Call Handlers who deal with challenging and demanding situations. They play a vital role in ensuring our front-line officers have the relevant information to fight crime and keep the public safe.”

Statistics will be compiled after the event to produce an overview of the evening.
