PRIDE is only at stake tomorrow night but Wildcats coach Ken Forshee will be looking for his side to finish the 2005/06 season in style, writes DAVE EATON.

The Swindon npower Wildcats' hopes of reaching the English Premier League play-offs finals were ended last weekend.

Needing to win at least one of their games against Guildford they went down by the odd goal in both of them.

It left Swindon marooned at the bottom of their group with just one point a draw with Hull and three defeats.

The closeness though between success and heartache is illustrated by the fact that all three losses were only by the odd goal.

Tomorrow Cats bring the curtain down at the Link Centre on their latest campaign when they entertain Bracknell Bees. The return is 24 hours later in the Berkshire club's Hive.

"Obviously I am disappointed that we will not make the play-offs final," said Forshee.

"But the guys gave everything and just missed out.

"It is no disgrace to miss out, they played hard but didn't get any breaks like they did in the regular league season.

"Guildford are a good side and won the league easily so to beat them twice and run them close in the play-offs was no mean achievement.

"It looks like Hull and Guildford will go through but Bracknell still have a chance."

Forshee continued: "We may not be able to qualify but we want to end the season with a home win.

"The fans have been great all season and lifted us on many occasion. We owe it to them and want to win and finish the home season on a high. That will be something we can build on for next year.

"Our first goal was to finish in the top eight and make the play-offs we did that with fourth place.

"The next target was to reach Coventry and the finals weekend. We won't make that but it has still been a great season and the side has got better and better.

"We had a rough start but since November have been one of the best in the league.

"Confidence has grown and we want to build on that for next season. Nobody gave us a real chance last September but we ended fourth which was fantastic."

And he added: "Now we want to finish at home with a win."

Forshee will have a full squad availabe that includes forward Marek Hornak.

He suffered a nasty facial injury in the first period at home against Guildford but came back and played later in the game.

Despite the injury being diagnosed as a broken nose, the Wildcats' top goals and points scorer with 101 points will play against Bracknell.

Hornak, fourth top scorer in the league this season, has been named in a British Ice Hockey Writers Premier League team of the season.

It is the first time a Swindon player has featured since the Ice Lords glory days of 1996/97 when Mark Cavallin (netminder), Bryan Larkin (defence) and Todd Dutiaume (forward) were all named.
