It comes as Conservatives Paul Goodman MP, General Election hopeful Steve Baker and Wycombe District Council member Darren Hayday visit Tory HQ to make their case for the hospital.

They will meet Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley at Westminster where they will hand over hundreds of your opinions that you have sent to us.

Mr Goodman, MP for Wycombe, said it would be “irresponsible to raise false hopes” but hoped a Tory Government would get hospitals more cash.

Serious trauma cases were removed from A&E in 2005 and doctor-led births, overnight children’s and gynaecology care went last month.

He said: “We don’t have a magic wand to turn the clock back to 2005 when the decisions were made so we have to start from the position we find ourselves in today.

“The main problem with our local NHS is the lack of local control, the biggest complaint being whatever the public say it doesn’t seem to make a difference.”

He said getting Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust prestigious foundation status would give residents more control.

The status changes the way the trust is governed, with thousands allowed to become members and a council of governors set up to scrutinise managers. This is on hold because of a cash crisis.

Mr Goodman said the organisation which decides where funds go, NHS Buckinghamshire, has a “a long-standing structural deficit, which began when Labour took charge”.

Mr Goodman added: “I am, however, hopeful and would expect to get a fairer settlement from the Conservatives.

“That being said, I don’t think anyone will simply ride to the rescue.

“Any central government will expect NHS Buckinghamshire to get its own house in order as well.”

Mr Baker, selected last month as the Conservatives’ prospective parliamentary candidate, is “as aware about the issue as any candidate could be” he said.

Mr Hayday, who featured in the Bucks Free Press when his wife’s labour turned into an emergency, said: “The current government is doing nothing apart from closing services and wards down.

“We hope to get something out of Mr Lansley and bring it back to the people of High Wycombe.”

We will bring you news of the meeting later today.

Mr Goodman, MP for Wycombe, said it would be “irresponsible to raise false hopes” but hoped a Tory Government would get hospitals more cash.....career politician would say that.

I would agree with Goodman on this point. Labour withdrew some of the funding from true-blue areas and diverted it to Labour heartlands. When Tories come in they will change this policy.

Mr Goodman has nothing to say about Stephen Croft. Stand up for the community Goodman.

He could start a campaign for stiffer prison term for said person.

Well done Goodman for spotting the fact that it is the lack of local control!
It has only taken the Conservatives 5 years to acknowledge this.
Who took the local control away?
That would be the process started by the last Conservative government when they got rid of Wycombe Health Authority.
The Conservatives are convinced they have the next election in the bag so are they going to return our hospital services or not?

Your headline, does nothing but worry people. You should be celebrating the care and expertise these parents were given by the modern day ambulance staff. And not trying to beef up your save our hospital campaign.Arguements on tory or labour councillors are like saying what socks shall I put on today blue, or red as they will both keep your feet warm, but both will need washing.A free press would follow public opinion not try to lead it

I was amazed by the statement made by Hospital NHS Trust spokesman Lee Jones (BFP p.3 13/11) "...where women give birth enroute from home to hospital, ANNUALLY this happens between 8 and 10 TIMES a YEAR".
How can we have Trust in the HNHS Trust when there have already been 2 births in the first few weeks?

If my partner had been transfered to Stoke Mandeville during the "routine" birth of my son the almost certainly he would not have survived. The birth went from normal & progressing as expected, to needing an emergency caesarian section in moments, if they had been in an ambulance at the time then I'm not sure that the "care" needed would have been available to them. I really hope i'm wrong but when babies are being born on route to Stoke Mandevile surely it's only a matter of time before there is a sad outcome. Even what appears to be a straightforward birth can develop compications.
