FROM the scary to the sublime, the tall to the tiny, there were pumpkins galore in Bourne End at the weekend, with youngsters jumping into the Halloween spirit.
Celebrating their first anniversary at The Walnut Tree, owners Chris and Grace Grego hosted the competition, with a Bucks Free Press reporter even helping to cast an eye over the entrants.
More than 20 children entered the competition, which was open to all villagers, with the 26 pumpkins entered, illuminated outside the pub during the week.
Winning £75 for the ‘wolf pumpkin’ was competition winners Ryan and Michael McMahon, while four-year-old Alex Royal came second and Harvey and Emily Dean came third.
Helping to judge the pumpkins was Bourne End reporter Andrew Colley, The Walnut Tree’s Grace Grego and Target magazine’s Barrie Penfold and Debra Aspinall.
Following the event, The Walnut Tree said they will donate 25p for each pumpkin entry to the PTA committees of three schools in the area.
As nominated by the entrants, Bourne End’s Claytons Primary School, St Paul’s C of E, in Wooburn, and Cookham Rise Primary School will each receive the donation.
