THIEVES ransacked a takeaway in Little Chalfont at the weekend.

They gained entry to the Chalfont Dynasty Chinese restaurant sometime between 9pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday by removing beading from a ground floor window and then removing the glass.

Police said an untidy search of the Nightingales Corner restaurant was carried out and thieves tried to steal a safe which was bolted to the floor.

But they left with only a staff tip jar which contained about £40.
