SNOW is going to fall tonight and possibly tomorrow around High Wycombe, a forecaster is warning this afternoon.

Some higher ground areas in Bucks already experienced some of the white stuff during last night and there is a threat that the next batch will settle, weatherman Jim Dale said.

The Hazlemere based forecaster said: “From this evening onwards, through the night and the first part of tomorrow precipitation will be on top us, strong winds with it.

"Given the fact temperatures are going to be around the freezing mark, I think yes is the answer (to if it will snow).”

Mr Dale, who runs British Weather Services, said: “The higher you are the more likely it will be of depth, the lower you are the more likely it will be the wet variety and will be melt.

“It's that marginal, it doesn't have to turn much. I think on the hills it definitely will settle. Further down you're on the borderline.

“We are at risk and we're just going to have to watch this space from this evening.”

He said people should prepare for severe weather in case the worst case scenario does transpire.

By Sunday the snow will have stopped falling, he said, but next week temperatures could drop at night to as low as minus five degrees Celsius.

Easter weekend looks to be slightly less cold at this stage, he added.
